This edition features: tejploopare tejploopare uses recorded sounds of nature from his home island in western Sweden. These are processed using simple methods including changes in tape speed, EQ and level, with subtle addition of delay and reverb via an effects loop. The use of tape and battery driven devices also adds the possibility of new sounds through the failure of either or both. Distant Animals Distant Animals (Daniel Alexander Hignell-Tully) blends performance art with electronic and electro-acoustic composition, built around specific socio-political themes. His work explores ritual, labour, site, and sense, unpicking the quiet fragments that link our communities together. Daniel is a lecturer at Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and runs the Difficult Art and Music record label / small press, as well as MEANS magazine and the Art Is Still Honest research platform. Matt Atkins Matt Atkins is an improvising percussionist and sound/visual artist who uses electronics, objects and tape loops in his work which explores elements of minimalism texture. He has released music on labels such as Falt, Rusted Tone Recordings, Invisible City, Whitelab Recs, tsss tapes, Coherent States, Steep Gloss, Flaming Pines, Wabi Sabi Tapes, Dasa Tapes and Chocolate Monk, among others. Since 2006 he has run the label MRM recordings. In 2020 he began curating and presenting a show for CAMP radio called Auricular Shelter. He has had two well received solo exhibitions of his paintings and drawings, 'Eoliths' in 2022 and 'Channels' in 2024, both at the Hundred Years Gallery. As with his music there is a fascination with and exploration of texture, minimalism and gesture, with most of the paintings and drawings being improvised. He also plays drums in the critically acclaimed folk/doom band Crumbling Ghost. Snidefinder Snidefinder is the alias of Simon Williams and covers either a set up ranging from Orcutt/Jandek/Dead C-ish ragged, shouty guitar songs, often bunging the guitar through a looper to turn it into a noise sequencer, or, instrumental / more abstract sets mixing in field recordings and other FX for soundscapes and rhythmic blips n squeaks. Sometimes both. For this Intox the intention is (at the time of writing), to focus on using field recordings rhythmically, probably with guitar (depending on how much I will lug on the Lizzie line) but blurring the difference between the two. There may be some utterances along with this.
