On 17 October, Microfunk returns to BRUK for another night of deep drum & bass and atmospheric electronica. After one of the standout sets at our Microfunk 10 Years celebration last year, Oliver Yorke will be joining us once again from London. With releases on Soul In Motion, Cosmic Bridge and CNVX, his take on drum & bass sits firmly on the leftfield side, built around broken patterns, weighty Reese basses and cinematic melancholy. He’ll be joined by a true local legend, SK1 Records honcho and SWU resident Synkro, probably the only DJ we know who can seamlessly blend ambient, microfunk, jungle and dubstep into one continuous journey. His recent releases on Of Paradise, unknown - untitled and The Moth Club only underline that versatility. Elsewhere, one half of the Alan Johnson project, hasn’t exactly been flooding the world with solo releases, but rumour has it he’s been cooking up something exclusive for Microfunk. So for now, Microfunk Eve is the place to hear it, unless Aphex Twin dusts off another Elsewhere tune, as he once did at Field Day. And last but not least, Bop will be representing his fresh EP on Hospital Records, plus a selection of forthcoming tunes from him and the label. Come through!
