A heavyweight night of Breaks, Bass, House and Drum & Bass, headlined by legendary New Zealand breakbeat pioneer FreQ Nasty, with Toronto breakbeat originals Big League Chu & Dave Saddler back behind the decks together for the first time in years. Born in Fiji, raised in New Zealand and shaped by London's late-'90s dance music revolution, FreQ Nasty is a pioneer of the global breakbeat and bass music scene. From his early releases on Botchit & Scarper and SKINT/Sony to collaborations with Santigold, Switch, Fatboy Slim, Roots Manuva, KRS-One, Kelis and Rodney P, FreQ has spent decades pushing bass-heavy electronic music forward. A longtime favourite of the Burning Man community and former resident at London's legendary Fabric, he's known for deep grooves, heavy bass and high-energy dancefloor sets. Make It Funky has been throwing unforgettable parties for over two decades, fusing funky breaks, hip hop and beat-driven live music with a high-energy, all-inclusive atmosphere. Past events have featured international icons including DubFX, Grandmaster Flash, Krafty Kuts, Beardyman, Fort Knox Five and Afrika Bambaataa, alongside Canadian favourites such as Five Alarm Funk, The Soul Motivators and Skratch Bastid. PROPER is a new Toronto production company focused on the future sounds of Breaks, House and Drum & Bass, with an emphasis on quality sound, forward-thinking artists and high-energy late-night dancefloors.
