LOCAL PLANET brings together small but vibrant corners of Tokyo’s local music scene for one night at Toranoko Shokudo. Joining from London is Sunni D, a DJ and selector known for energetic journeys through ’80s disco, Afro-boogie, ’90s house, Latin and Afro-Caribbean sounds. A longtime resident of London collective Disco Disco, he has played at Fabric, KOKO, Village Underground, Glastonbury Festival and Pikes Ibiza, and shared lineups with Sadar Bahar, Jeremy Underground and Kamma & Masalo. Alongside Sunni D are Tokyo-based DJs Atsu, mag, U-holic and Souta Raw, each bringing their own musical perspective to the night. The idea behind LOCAL PLANET is simple: Tokyo is full of small parties and music communities, each with its own people and sound — almost like little planets of their own. For one night, some of those local planets come together in the same room, with music from different parts of the world meeting on one dancefloor.
