For this edition of Long Play we'll listen to 2 landmark albums from the seminal Scottish band Cocteau Twins, pioneers of dream pop and ethereal wave. First "Head Over Heels", their 1984 release and second studio album, then "Heaven or Las Vegas", their sixth studio album and most quintessential, genre-defining album released in 1990. This session is hosted by Jaw Jones. Jaw Jones is an artist best known as a house and techno music DJ, music producer, event organizer, and lighting designer. But his love of music runs well beyond the dance floor. His love of dreampop and shoegaze were the first genres that made him a music obsessive, and there's no artist more decisively formative within those genres than Cocteau Twins. Jaw Jones will lead front-to-back listens of two of his favourite albums, Head Over Heels and Heaven or Las Vegas, plus a few thoughts on why this music has stayed with us for so long.
