Jah MafiaTone HiFi, MASTER OF THE MIDLANDS, played an important role in shaping UK reggae and sound system culture, operating alongside legendary sounds including Jah Shaka, Sir Coxsone International and Fatman Sound, With deep links between the UK and Jamaica, MafiaTone travelled regularly to source exclusive records, cut dubplates and record at studios including Channel One and King Tubby’s, bringing fresh Jamaican sounds back to UK dancehalls. Alongside MafiaTone, expect a special LIVE set from Tapes, performing his own material. Originally from South London and now based in Tallinn, Tapes first emerged on Jahtari in 2009 with the Hissing Theatricals EP. Over the years his distinctive approach to dub, reggae and electronics has appeared across labels including Honest Jon’s, Sex Tags, EM Records, Good Morning Tapes, Research Records and Cav Empt, alongside extensive touring as both a live performer and DJ. Also joining us is Richard Fearless for a DJ set, bringing the spirit of his Dalston Holy Night sessions with Tom Dubwide — deep selections stretching through roots, dub and beyond. Completing the session, SHAUWDII steps in for a special dub set, digging into another side of her selections for the occasion.
