From Amsterdam’s dancefloors to the top of the Martinelli: Fafi Abdel Nour lands in Brazil to play atop São Paulo’s most iconic building. Our guest for the fourth edition of From House to Disco Club is one of the most distinctive names in Europe’s new electronic music scene. Born in Syria, raised in the Netherlands and now based in Amsterdam, he has been making his mark on the dancefloors helping shape the direction of electronic music today. Dekmantel, Panorama Bar, Lost Village, WHOLE Festival, DGTL and RAUM, where he is a resident, are among them. But his importance lies not only in where he plays. It lies in what the music represents to him. His exploration of ’90s house is not only musical. It is also a way of revisiting an era when this music grew out of the need for Black, queer and trans people to create spaces of their own. A vision that took shape through BUTTS, the queer party he founded in Groningen, and that remains present in everything he does. On October 3rd, this story arrives in Brazil.
