BASEMENT, New York

Dustin Zahn returns to BASEMENT. One of the paragons of true school, midwest techno, Zahn is a figure whose work looms large in the underground. Active since the late ‘90s, his sound is indelibly linked with the iconic midwest rave scene, and few artists achieve the level of universally respect from their peers that he has. Zahn’s seasoned approach is rooted in the communal core that has animated techno since the beginning. This is also reflected in The Great Beyond, his now-seminal festival that takes place outside Minneapolis every summer. Kameliia is back following her April debut. The Bulgarian-born DJ and producer has released on some of the most esteemed imprints in the world today, including SK_Eleven and WSNWG. Across her entire discography, Kamelia’s productions ooze with sophistication and a tempered focused intensity, marked by throbbing low end, deep, reverberant textures and a haunting melodic sensibility that twists around the tracks like curls of smoke. Ade Kassim makes his debut. The NY artist’s output taps into a vein where techno, sound art and evocative, alternate futures collide. On releases like “Constant Change,” Kassim stretches into the yawning, inky-black cosmos and positions himself in a lineage with some of the most exploratory producers of the late ‘90s-’00s. Hercules & Love Affair headlines STUDIO. One of the key voices in 21st century house music, H&LA is responsible for some of our most unimpeached, generational classics. Tracks like “Blind” and “Raise Me Up” were era-defining anthems whose impact helped to redirect the trajectory of dance music at a pivotal moment. Since the project’s debut nearly 20 years ago, H&LA has continued to evolve. Last year saw the release of “Someone Else Is Calling” in collaboration with Hips & Lips, which was followed by a set of remixes from the one and only Larry Heard. It’s the next step in a career devoted to transmuting house’s most classic, expressive elements into something new. Eli Escobar joins. One third of Tiki Disco and the driving force behind the nightclub Gabriella, Escobar is a force unto himself. A lifelong digger and a selector with truly comprehensive knowledge, Escobar brings a mixture of mature experience and impish, joyful spontaneity to the booth. His relationship to dance music is steeped in decades of lore and late nights, but somehow he just gets better and better with every year. Listen and learn. Andi pays tribute to the ‘80s golden age, when dance, goth, industrial and pop all swam together in crosscurrents of technologically-optimized glamor. The founder of Synthecide and a beloved DJ in her own right, Andi’s unique perspective and focused, nuanced taste reveals secret layers and forgotten nooks of one of modern music’s most exciting eras. ■ No photos or videos ■ Ticket purchase does not guarantee entrance ■ No phone use on the dancefloor ■ The dance floor is for dancing, not conversation ■ No glowing/flashing clothes or items ■ Respect other people's space, no shuffling ■ Consent is mandatory ■ Zero tolerance for racism, homophobia, transphobia, sexism, ableism or any form of discrimination ■ Take care of each other, alert our staff if somebody isn't feeling well ■ Violating the house rules will result in removal PLEASE REVIEW HOUSE POLICIES AT LINK BELOW
