The DBA, Manchester

>_REVELATION 2.1 - “The Modern Prometheus” >_”V.A.L.I.S. summons you once again to the DBA. We have arranged a gross amalgamation of artists and DJs to keep you up for the night - ranging from occult witchhouse and industrial noise, to hardcore and jungle hybrid sets. Stay long enough and you will be rewarded with the chance to see for yourselves - the live reanimation of Frankenstein's Monster." >_”V.A.L.I.S. wishes to show you the curse that comes with stealing the Divine Fire, the hubris of human ego and the attempt to gain power over death. Will we succeed in the pursuit of immortality, and domination over all things natural? V.A.L.I.S. asks this of you on December 3rd.” >_ "V.A.L.I.S believes in refuge, housing and safety for all. This event is a fundraiser - we are supporting @migrantjusticemcr in their local efforts to provide refugees in the UK with housing, legal funds, and they support they need from fleeing war, destruction and turmoil in their own homelands. We aim to make our event affordable for all – starting with £5.50 for much of the month with donation options available below." >_FEATURING @yyre___ @ZOLATEC @jibraeel_msieh @jarvisbitcoin @S3ROC >_Derby Brewery Arms 95 Cheetham Hill Road Cheetham Hill Manchester M8 8PY ……………………………………………………………………………………V\ast A\ctive L\iving I\ntelligence S\ystem PLEASE READ OUR CODE OF CONDUCT BEFORE ATTENDING …………………………………………………………………………………… V.A.L.I.S is a queer BIPOC centred space committed to opposing bigotry in all forms. We have a zero tolerance policy for racism, ableism, sexism, transphobia, homophobia, fatphobia. V.A.L.I.S came out of a desire to create safer spaces in the nightlife scene and we take the welfare of our attendees seriously. If you are worried about your abuser attending, please contact us and we will refuse them entry. We operate on a ban and a warnings list. This list will not be public. A ban list is not for interpersonal conflict or minor fallouts. This is specifically for people that have been responsible for any form of emotional, physical or SA related abuse. Do not come if you fit this category. A warnings list will include people that have been warned at an event. Warnings happen on a case by case basis if someone does something that doesn’t constitute an immediate ejection. For example, persistently hitting on people that are not interested in you, or making an ignorant comment. If you are warned for something and you do it again, you will be banned. We are constantly aiming to improve and will do our best when listening to feedback. Please be patient with us - we are a small team. 1. Consent is key - If you think someone’s outfit or hair or makeup is cool, ask before you touch. If you want to kiss or hug someone, ask. No means no, and someone looking uncomfortable, hesitant or being pressured into a yes is also a no. 2. No bigotry - Challenge views that have been shaped by patriarchy and white supremacy. Racism, ableism, sexism, transphobia, and homophobia are not welcome at V.A.L.I.S. We encourage you to call out bigotry and if someone is harassing, discriminating against you, or simply making you feel uncomfortable please speak to the team for support. 3. Safer spaces - V.A.L.I.S aims to be a safer space. We know that no space is 100% safe but we endeavour to always have a welfare space where you can seek support and relax in. In the case of an incident, please talk to our welfare officer or a member of the team who will note this anonymously, and escalate if wanted. We will do our best to respect your wishes in terms of how you want to deal with an incident: whether that is ejecting someone, warning them, talking to them or providing you with emotional support. Too many events do nothing in the face of harassment and run on a principle of turning a blind eye, or create excuses. V.A.L.I.S runs on the principle of believing survivors. We recognise some people may be concerned about false accusations, we believe this is the absolute minimum of cases and the cost of interrogating people about their abuse is much higher. 4. Accessible spaces - V.A.L.I.S aims to improve accessibility, currently V.A.L.I.S is hosted at the DBA which has an access guide you can read here for more details. DBA Accessibility Guide Masks are not required but are available at the Welfare space. Flashing lights and smoke machines will be used depending on the event. Carer tickets are always available (free). 5. Low income tickets - V.A.L.I.S is currently a very small event, and we want to pay our artists. We start with early bird options and then increase our prices gradually. However, we retain a small portion of tickets for those in need/on low income - with fundraiser community tickets priced at £4.50, and for profit events priced at £3.50. If you do not consider yourself to be on low/no income, please do not take advantage of this option. Support your local scene as best you can so that we can keep it affordable and keep this event alive. Again we are a small team of creatives who make no money from this event ourselves. If you are on low income DM us for these tickets, we will ask no questions. 6. Respect - Please treat our artists, team and bar staff with respect, look after yourselves and your friends.
