Mains d'œuvres, Paris

Tweak Soundsystem and South of North team up for a 2nd edition at Mains d’Oeuvres. Same set-up as last time - one concert room and a non-stop soundsystem room powered by Tweak, presenting 6 live shows across both rooms with resident DJs stepping-in between. TANZ MEIN HERZ Tanz Mein Herz is a French avant-folk and drone collective rooted in the experimental music scene of Auvergne. Formed in the mid-2000s as an open creative space for musicians connected to bands ‘Toad’ and ‘France’, the project evolved into a fluid ensemble without fixed roles or borders. Drawing from long-form improvisation, trance-like repetition, and acoustic exploration, their music unfolds slowly through circular guitar figures, bowed strings, hand percussion, and drifting drones. More ritual than concert, Tanz Mein Herz performances invite deep listening—where rhythm dissolves, harmonies breathe, and sound becomes a shared, immersive experience. Jérémie Sauvage: bass (France, Omertà, Maitres Fous, La Tène),Jonathan Grandcollot: Drums (La Société Étrange, Omertà, Plein Soleil),Guilhem Lacroux: guitar, lapsteel (Toad, La Baracande, Faune, Serr, La Tène),Pierre-Vincent Fortunier: echonnet, violin (Toad),Pierre Bujeau: guitare, electronique (Megabasse, Omertà). MARIA BERTEL & NINA GARCIA The duo of french guitarist Nina Garcia and danish trombonist Maria Bertel are an extremely unique example of improvisation through electroacoustic instrumentation. While employing very different musical instruments of vastly different musical heritages, they use them to violently pave way to new unexplored sonic territory, with a ferociousness and confidence both intimidating and impressive. Their understanding and control of their instruments is highly developed, and the language they communicate between themselves with personal and unique. The musical and performative result is comparable to power tools hacking away at the structures of tradition. MAGIC PONY PRODUCTIONS Initially driven by improvisation, Magic Pony Productions occupies a space between structure and chance, where gimbri, drums, guitar, keyboards, voices, loops and digital effects converge towards various possible genres. Roles shift, instruments circulate, eventually developing a shared, unstable language. “I have another gift for you, a Magic Pony, don’t make fun, this is very very small, and has a saddle and very long ears, ride it if you wish, though never part from the magic pony, not in this world or the next, it will be your friend, your best friend” LA RAT Multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Goya van der Heijden – of Devon Rexi – and DJ and producer Tobias Jansen – aka TBZ – are La Rat: an experimental hip hop duo whose eponymous LP on South of North sprung up out of the gutter in 2025. With pitch-shifted vocals accompanied by Madlib-esque beats, they take well-loved hip hop sounds and drench them in the murky strange canals of Danksterdam. The duo cite influences as far apart as bizarro turntablist noise-makers MC Hellshit & DJ Carhouse are to deep-listening composer Pauline Oliveros. This mashing of high and low art carries into their ethos; they've created something special and sonically intricate which manages to not take itself too seriously. There's humour leaking out of every corner of La Rat (2025), leaving a trail back to the nest they scurried out of. La Rat aren't only rodent scavengers of soulful crunchy samples but of chunky lyrics too, whose dribbling verses are assembled artfully into an esoteric trash-tableaux. (Rewire) HOCHIWAH Hochiwah is an exploration of sound and a magical attempt by Mars Goodwater (BE), one half of Pairi Daeza, and the newest addition to Parasite Jazz. Hochiwah opens an intimacy to the outside, presenting an odd travelogue where self, other and environment glide together, full of sincerity and intuitions, cultivating fantasy and playful poetry. TBZ TBZ is Tobias Jansen - a beat wizard involved in many projects. He is one half of experimental hip hop duo LA RAT, member of (con)fusion music trio MONTEL PALMER and formerly served as a scratch-sidekick in DEVON REXI, with releases on labels like Stenze Quo, South of North and Tax Free Records. TBZs solo performances are infrequent and unpredictable, yet always beat-heavy and animating. Some might recall his legendary bass music performance on Samsø out of the trunk of a Volvo. Expect an amalgam of styles and tempi imbued with an outsider B-Boy mentality!
