CIRCLE (WDC CLOSING) Every circle closes at some point. This one closes a year. With CIRCLE (WDC CLOSING), we bring the World Design Capital year in Frankfurt RheinMain to its end, in the place where we spend most of our time anyway: Tokonoma. A year of ideas, spaces and people trying to shape the city a little differently deserves a proper last night. So we’re doing what we know best: opening the doors, turning the sound up, and letting the evening take its own shape. LIVE: DARIUS BLAIR QUARTETT × AISLING The night begins with music played by hand. The Darius Blair Quartett and Aisling share the stage for one combined live set. Darius Blair stands for a jazz that leaves room for improvisation, spontaneous encounters and intense moments, somewhere between tradition and modernity, with the interplay of the musicians at its center. Aisling is a contemporary jazz quintet that grew out of the Frankfurt scene and now works from Frankfurt, Berlin and Köln. Flowing neo-soul harmonies, organic grooves and dense textures carry lyrics drawn from personal experience, told in images and never over-explained. Two bands, one stage, and an opening that sets the tone before the floor takes over. DRIFT Afterwards, Drift is hosted by our resident Wigbert, who invites friends from his label Achievement. Expect a night that finds its own pace: deep, warm, unhurried, and a little off the straight line. Come early, stay late, let it carry you. TOKONOMA An independent club in Frankfurt, built from scratch, self-funded, and shaped by the people who gather here. Good sound, honest design, and a crowd that comes for the music and each other. We’ll see you on the floor.
