AUSCULT is a communal deep-listening ritual exploring music as a means of connection, storytelling and collective discovery. In a world where music is increasingly consumed alone, on demand and at speed, AUSCULT asks what happens when we choose to listen together. Taking its name from auscultare, which means to listen attentively, to give ear, to heed AUSCULT transforms STÜCK into a room for listening and discovery each month. For this first edition, @sweetestcape will be your selector on hand and will be presenting an exploration of trip hop, a music style that blends hypnotic dub with striped back hiphop and punk elements, a style developed and pioneered in Bristol before subsequently spread all over the world via acts like massive attack, and portishead. HOW DOES IT WORK? From 8–11pm, a host and invited selector guide the room through records, stories and shared discoveries. Music is played one track at a time, in full, from a singular source, allowing each selection the space to breathe before the next begins. Everyone entering AUSCULT is invited to bring a record as an offering to the altar. You don't need to be a collector, and you don't need to know anything about music beyond knowing what moves you. HOW DO I ATTEND? £8 for a single or £12 (which comes with a plus 1) We would recommend arriving in pairs as the experience is better shared. Think of it as BYOB, but for music: Bring Your Own Record. Come as you are, Bring a date. Bring an old friend. Come alone and leave knowing somebody you didn't before. The music gives us a reason to gather. Listening gives us a way into one another.
