Fresh from international touring—and a recent performance at the celebrated Sustain-Release festival—OK EG are coming to NYC for an intimate evening workshop exploring the sounds, techniques, and ideas behind their distinctive approach to electronic music. Hosted by Synth Library NYC at their East Williamsburg location, this special workshop invites you inside the creative universe of Lauren Squire and Matthew Wilson, the Naarm/Melbourne-based duo known for their immersive ambient atmospheres, lush and syrupy synth lines, and stripped-back, hypnotic rhythms. For this intimate session, the Naarm/Melbourne-based duo will open up their practice and share a closer look into their hybrid analog and digital setup, used both for writing music and performing live. They’ll walk through their live and discuss their workflow, rhythm programming, sound design, arrangement methodology and the way their live system is built and performed. From their early experiments making music with limited equipment to building an internationally celebrated live show, launching a record label, running their own festival, and performing around the world, Lauren and Matthew will share insights from an evolving practice that has taken them to labels including Animalia, Steeplejack, Wax'o Paradiso, Kalahari Oyster Cult, Midgar, and NAFF. The evening will be facilitated by Synth Library NYC with Heidi Sabertooth, artist and founding director of the library, moderating the conversation and audience questions. East Williamsburg, Brooklyn Location. Exact address will be sent to ticket holders day-of event. * Photo credit: Eirik Havnes
