Be prepared to lock in until sunrise once again for the grand opening of the brand new LA DIY club space, Goo People. Information is breaking it in with with a pair of extremely talented and deeply psychedelic producers + DJ's making their glorious LA debuts... Please welcome, Que Sakamoto (Japan) and Bambi (France). Tasked with the opening set at the new space is NYC-based Info co-boss Screeb. ✺✺✺✺✺✺ Que Sakamoto's DJ sets are always a surprise, because he caters his performances for the crowd in each country he visits. He never repeats the same vibe, always tending towards weird, interesting music, as this is how he expresses his Japanese identity. In one go, he can take the crowd from disco to garage to dub, even to trance and experimental breakbeat. For his current and future projects, Que Sakamoto is shifting his focus towards his Japanese roots. His passion is Japanese music from the 70’s to 90’s, and playing this music to a new generation, especially in Japan, to help connect people to their roots. This new direction reflects Que Sakamoto’s deep appreciation for his cultural heritage and his desire to showcase the rich musical traditions of Japan to a global audience. ✺✺✺✺✺✺ Bambi. Classical training lent her form. Liminal spaces taught her patience. Club culture gave her heat. Across residencies at Macadam in Nantes, for Hors-Sol in Paris, and over the airwaves of Rinse France—not to mention recent tours through Australia, South Asia, and North America—Bambi’s natural instinct for music in motion has ripened into a kind of dancefloor clairvoyance. As part of a new generation of French artists championing the low-end psychedelia movement, she blends deep techno, trance, dub and bass music with the bombast of psy to craft sets that make dancing feel like breathing: ritual, instinctive, life-giving. As a co-founder of the Réinventer la nuit mutual aid network strengthening safety, working conditions and care and support spaces for femme-aligned, trans and non-binary people, Bambi is at the forefront of the movement to promote safer dance spaces in the French underground scene and beyond. Which is fitting, given all of the above. If there is a theme that courses through Bambi’s art and practice, it is one of dancefloor renewal.
