On October 9th, Monopol LAB at Nomade Temple Madrid welcomes El Búho, the project of Robin Perkins, for an intimate listening session of his new album Hogar. About the artist Robin Perkins was born in the north of England and found his musical home in Latin America. As El Búho, he blends Latin American folklore, organic electronics, dub, field recordings, and sounds of nature. He has released on labels such as Wonderwheel Recordings and ZZK Records, and has collaborated with artists including Nicola Cruz, Luzmila Carpio, and Chancha Vía Circuito. He also co-directs Shika Shika, a global collective of artists and record label. About Hogar His new album, released on Shika Shika, revolves around the idea of home: family, belonging, refuge, and also migration, displacement, and the climate crisis. It is built from found sounds, such as domestic recordings, travel recordings, and recordings of gatherings with friends, and features collaborations with Pita Amor, Ana María Vahos, Humazapas, and Chuskupura, among others. It is an album designed to be heard from start to finish, and this session is the perfect opportunity. What we'll be doing - Listening session: attentive listening to the album in a space designed for it. - Vinyl signing: El Búho will sign vinyl records after the listening. - Q&A: an open conversation with the artist about the process, the collaborations, and the ideas behind the album. Details - Friday, October 9th - 7:30 PM – 9:00 PM - Monopol LAB, Nomade Temple, Madrid - Free entry with RSVP. Spots are limited, so confirm your attendance as soon as possible. We look forward to listening together.
