Voice Actor is the music project of Noa Kurzweil. In 2022, the Belgian label STROOM released Sent from My Telephone, a sprawling debut of 110 tracks running for more than four hours, developed with Levi Lanser. Kurzweil’s voice is central, moving between speech, singing and sound. Words are cut, repeated and rearranged, sometimes receding from meaning to become rhythm, texture or phonetic material. For Lust (1) (2025), her most recent album, she worked with producer Squu in a loose process of exchange. On some tracks, Squu’s electronic productions use Voice Actor’s vocals as an instrument; on others, Kurzweil arranged his productions and added her own vocals. Rather than following a single fixed way of making a song, the album takes shape through this back-and-forth between voice, production and arrangement, with the voice moving in and out of the electronic textures. Sound and Fluids is a concert series hosted by the Julia Stoschek Foundation and curated by Reece Cox and Tabea Marschall. The series focuses on listening as a spatial and embodied experience, across performance, voice, and atmosphere.
