On the Friday of ADE, Paradiso hands the keys over to DEEWEE, the internationally renowned label for intricate electronic music founded by Flemish brothers David and Stephen Dewaele. Since the label's inception in 2015, the brothers have maintained a strong artistic vision. Working from their bunker-like studio in Ghent, they produce, write, and/or mix every release themselves. Recent DEEWEE success stories include records by Marie Davidson and Charlotte Adigéry & Bolis Pupul. That perfectionism didn't come out of nowhere. Stephen and David are the brains behind the electronic rock band Soulwax and are also known worldwide by their DJ alias, 2manydjs. Since the early 2000s, the brothers have uniquely bridged the worlds of rock, pop, and electronic music. Their taste and sound are underpinned by encyclopedic knowledge of music and equipment, as well as the use of an extensive collection of vintage synthesizers. On the Friday of ADE, David and Stephen will present the best of their label's roster in our Main Hall. The arrival of the DEEWEE circus at Paradiso also holds a touch of nostalgic sentiment: long before the world was at their feet, Stephen and David cut their teeth as DJs right here on the Weteringschans during Paradiso’s club night, Noodlanding. Years later, the gear may be pricier and their hair a bit drier, but their immense energy and their love for Paradiso remains exactly the same.
