Ron Allen has been part of Toronto’s underground dance music story since the beginning. A JUNO-nominated DJ, producer and co-founder of Strobe Records, Allen helped shape a distinctly Toronto strain of house and techno in the early ’90s — raw, soulful, futuristic and built for the floor. Founded with Hayden Andre Brown in 1991, Strobe became home to records including Subculture’s The Voyage, Hayden Andre Project’s Tribal Life, R.A.S.E.’s Get On Up and Nick Holder’s debut The Digital Age EP, establishing the label as an early independent force in Canadian electronic music. More than three decades later, Allen isn’t trading on nostalgia. His current work moves between deep house, Afro-influenced rhythms, soul and techno, with recent releases including Underground Harmonics, Dancefloor Killa and the 2026 album DIASPORA. His catalogue has also connected with labels including Strictly Rhythm, Plus 8, Definitive, Defected, Clone and Rawax. The legacy is established. The frequency is still moving forward. RON JON: DJ Ron Jon has been involved in the Toronto music and night club scene for over 20 years specializing in various musical genres such as rock, jazz, funk, hip hop, alternative, world music and house. Ron Jon has also made appearances on local Toronto radio stations CKLN, CHRY and Scarborough Fusion Radio (U of T).
