Morevi, a collective of passionate music heads, will celebrate its 7th anniversary on October 17. Founded in 2018 as a digital music store, the platform quickly evolved into a record shop rooted in supporting analogue culture, with the gradual expansion of its catalogue eventually morphing into a communal space where music aficionados converge to delve into novel sonic landscapes and engage in conversations that transcend mere music appreciation among like-minded individuals, curating weekly in-store sessions beyond the regular club nights. The label's own release catalogue includes solo EPs and compilations from Skyra, Theef, Orion, Stefano Stereo, and Tapo Metreveli. Bringing Morevi’s history, ethos, and spirit to the dancefloor, its core members are Boyá and Skyra, alongside a back-to-back set from Keto and Neon Warrior. Delivering live are Kdema, the alias of composer Ani Zakareishvili, whose practice focuses on acoustic and sample-based music, as well as original sounds and textures created through various sampling and digital techniques, all of which are present in her latest album, Neither in the Sky nor on the Ground; and Leipzig-based German producer DJ Balduin, known for his intricate, warm house basslines, clever loops, and breaks, fearlessly moving across ambient, trip-hop, and deep house. He is the mastermind behind the Mountebank Scientific and GLYK imprints, lead singer of Jenny, and half of the Feuerbach duo. His musical path traces back to Leipzig and Weimar, where he hosted his early parties. Paying tribute to his Weimar experience, DJ Balduin’s 2018 album Vvigmara on GLYK naturally bridged ambient with driving deep house. In 2023, he released his second full-length album, Concrete Mimosa, on Kann Records, followed by a string of releases across Kompakt, QC Records, and Inch by Inch Records. His recent outputs include Everything on Small Steps, a dreamy, ethereal exploration of melodic house and breaks, and Seasun on his own Mountebank Scientific.
