Welcome to another Hum session! The second sonic journey takes us to Lark, right by the Spree, for a very special lineup moving through different corners of soulful, forward-thinking dance music. Bulma Brief, Milan-based DJ, selector and curator, opens the night with her instinctive blend of house, broken beat and Detroit influences, rooted in warm grooves and a deep soul sensibility. A resident at Duro Club Milano, she has played across Italy and Europe, sharing the stage with artists including Kyle Hall, DJ Assault, Floating Points and Steven Julien. MAMALIA (fka AMALIA) — The First Lady of Modern Funk — returns to Berlin 15 years after her last appearance in the city in 2011. First introduced by DāM-FunK, she built her name through her debut album Art Slave and collaborations with Onra, Reggie B, Opolopo and Atjazz. Moving through funk, boogie, soul, bruk and beyond, she comes from Vancouver for a special live set with Mauricio Fleury, São Paulo multi-instrumentalist and all-round Brazilian musical force. Closing the night, Kyle Hall & K15 come together behind the decks again, following their last b2b at YAAM in 2015. Their musical connection goes back over a decade, developing into a long-standing creative exchange between two of the most distinctive deep house voices from Detroit and London. Most recently, they joined forces on Steel Sharpens Steel EP, released on Wild Oats Music, moving through broken house, deep grooves and bruk-inflected rhythms. Food will be available throughout the night, with Soil Brasserie serving a selection of East African bites.
