HEADROOM: James Curd (Chicago) + AROHA

Collingwood Basement, Melbourne

HEADROOM is a club series curated by AROHA, built around long-form sets, great sound and the freedom for DJs to take the dancefloor somewhere unexpected. Two selectors, six hours, no rigid genre rules. Just an intimate room, open minds and a focus on the music. For the second edition, AROHA is joined by Chicago-born producer and DJ James Curd. Raised on the underground loft parties and raves of the city that built house music, Curd went on to make his name as one half of Greenskeepers, before carving out a prolific solo career with releases on labels including DFA, Classic, Rekids, Get Physical and Defected. His remix history connects him with the likes of Jamie Principle, Paul Johnson, Sting, Groove Armada, Derrick Carter, Honey Dijon and Osunlade. A deep digger with decades behind the decks and an instinct for taking house music somewhere unexpected, he’s exactly the kind of selector HEADROOM was built for. HEADROOM takes place on the unceded lands of the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung people of the Kulin Nation. We acknowledge them as the Traditional Custodians of the land and waters on which we gather, and pay our respects to Elders past and present. Sovereignty was never ceded. A limited allocation of discounted First Nations community tickets is available for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Please contact us directly to access one. No explanation or proof is required. Once pre-sale allocation is exhausted, there will be a limited number of $30 door sales on the night.
