**Miyagi Education** joins Open Decks at Lemon, bringing DJs from its community to an open-format night where vinyl and digital share the booth. We're joined by host **Otez.G**! Miyagi Education is a South Side nonprofit DJ school that has been teaching DJing and beatmaking since 2023. Through its DJ 101, DJ 102, and Beat Making courses, plus community programs like Open Decks and Selector Saturdays, it gives new and developing DJs the skills, the history, and the stage time to grow into working selectors. Nights like this are part of that pathway: DJs getting reps in front of a new room, in a space that values the craft. Miyagi Education grew out of Miyagi Records, the BIPOC-owned record shop and cultural space on Garfield Blvd that it still calls home.
