Born 1969. Died 1909. For MERGE’s first ever all night long, we’ve invited an artist who has had an immense impact on the project’s evolution: RROSE. The name comes from Rrose Sélavy, Marcel Duchamp’s androgynous alter ego - a playful reimagining of identity and art itself. Rrose carries that same spirit of ambiguity into her work, where the boundaries between body and machine, composition and improvisation, darkness and euphoria constantly shift. That tension feels especially at home in our techno sweet spot. RROSE’s approach treats the dancefloor as a space for transformation - using rhythm, texture, resonance, and gradual shifts in intensity to create something that feels both rigorously composed and totally alive. RROSE first played MERGE in 2021, shortly after the project began at Market Hotel. Since then, she has returned in many different contexts and across numerous physical spaces, becoming deeply intertwined with the party’s identity. For her tenth visit, it felt natural to hand over the entire night. This is her first ever all night long, and we’re beyond thrilled to host it in a new, more intimate space. The artwork takes inspiration from Marcel Duchamp and Man Ray's "Belle Haleine, Eau de Voilette." We will work together to incubate the collective queer body, and experience its transformation under the influence of techno. We seek release, mutual understanding, deeper access to the personal, interconnected, and ethereal. We honor the sound through dance, self expression, and hyper-immersion. --- We have zero tolerance for physical, verbal, or sexual harassment. This includes non-consensual touching, violence, discriminatory language, or any behaviors that have a negative impact on the experience or the physical safety of other guests. If a problem or concern arises, guests are encouraged to locate a staff member for assistance. While on the dance floor, we encourage guests to keep conversations to a minimum and phones in their pockets. Come correct and ready to sweat!
