Sapporo-based electronic duo LAUSBUB released their new album, *society | lazy*, through Victor’s *SPEEDSTAR RECORDS* label. As part of their tour—which takes them to five cities including Tokyo, Aichi, Osaka, Hokkaido, and Fukuoka—they held their traditional after-party at WWWβ following their sold-out Tokyo show at WWW. The lineup featured a B2B set by LAUSBUB themselves, Sapporo veteran OGASHAKA—whom they regard as their mentor— Shohei Amimori (co-producer of their latest album), the music project 4.44% by video artist jvnpey, ast midori (head of field) from Osaka, and the unconventional gothic trio Chimeiteki “Utsui.” The lineup will feature an experimental set infused with inspiration from the musique concrète tracks on DISC 2 of the newly released album, as well as a distinct gothic atmosphere. Day-of ticket holders can enter at a discounted rate by showing their purchased ticket or purchase confirmation at the reception desk. LAUSBUB is a new wave techno-pop band formed by Rico and Mei, who were members of the same high school light music club in Sapporo, Hokkaido. They have been generating buzz across various platforms, including being selected for Spotify’s “RADAR: Early Noise ’26” program—which supports next-generation artists expected to make a big impact—as well as appearances at this summer’s Fuji Rock and international festivals, TV commercials, and tie-ins with TV dramas. *society | lazy* is LAUSBUB’s second album, their first in two years. In addition to digital distribution, a physical (CD) release has also been confirmed. As a major-label debut album, it is an unconventional, concept-driven work featuring a total of 14 tracks across two CDs. It includes the previously released epic track “golden lighter” (over 7 minutes long), “higher”—the theme song for Mode Gakuen vocational schools (Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya)’s 2026 TV commercial— “higher,” the theme song for Mode Gakuen’s (Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya) 2026 TV commercial, and “sign,” the theme song for the Prime Original drama series *Kuroema*. DISC 1 is composed of these three tracks, along with “static crosswalk”—a song inspired by the band’s experience acting in and composing the soundtrack for a film—and is designed to connect with the ears of society. In contrast, DISC 2 features a total of 10 tracks that embody LAUSBUB’s natural, “lazy” side. Sprinkled with elements of musique concrète (concrete music), the collection forms a cohesive body of work that absorbs a variety of musical genres. Shohei Amimori served as co-producer and Toshihiko Kasai as engineer throughout the entire album. The limited-edition first-press CD comes with special bonuses, including a T-shirt designed by Takuto Okamoto, a 40-page zine featuring photographs taken and edited collaboratively by Takuto Okamoto and the band members, and stickers hand-colored by the members themselves.
