Notre-Dame de Paris is an installative performance created by multidisciplinary artist Ambra Castagnetti. The piece merges performance art, sound, and visual installation into a shared experience featuring 5 dancers who bring the performance to life by reinterpreting classic archetypes such as Quasimodo, Frollo, Esmeralda, and the People of Paris through the lens of medical history, chronic conditions, and bodily vulnerability. The visual narrative relies on custom-crafted wearable sculptures that draw from medical imagery, technologies of care, and clinical aesthetics. Central to this design is a custom wearable aluminium mask created specifically for the character of Quasimodo, directly inspired by Victor Hugo’s literary descriptions to bridge historical perceptions of the body with contemporary performance art. An integral part of the installation is its original musical soundtrack, created in collaboration with producer and musician Luna Lias. Combining industrial soundscapes, dark wave, noise, doom drone, and deconstructed electronic rhythms, the sound translates the monumental weight and physical presence of the cathedral into a dense sonic environment. The performance takes place at STÜCK, located at 32-36 Tottenham Road in London, on October 16th, 2026, with doors opening at 6:30 PM. Guests are strongly encouraged to arrive on time to secure their entry and avoid missing out on space inside the venue. The space is wheelchair accessible with disabled toilet.
