A Key Member of Coil × A Pioneer of Contemporary Experimental Electronics: Drew McDowall and Hiro Kone Arrive in Beijing on November 13 Some records change the way we listen. Soon, the people who helped create them will be standing right in front of you. Drew McDowall, former member of Coil and onetime collaborator with Psychic TV, was a key architect of the sound behind Time Machines and Musick to Play in the Dark. From Britain’s underground industrial scene to his ongoing experiments with modular synthesis, he has continually explored the connections between sound, ritual, and perception. Slowly evolving drones, fragmented samples, and unfolding layers of electronic sound make time itself something you can hear. Also performing that night is Hiro Kone, whose work interweaves field recordings, strings, and modular synthesis, allowing rhythm, noise, and melody to collide, unravel, and take shape anew. She has performed at festivals including Berlin Atonal and Rewire, and contributed to special projects at New York’s MoMA, London’s ICA, and Hong Kong’s M+. Her sound holds delicacy and intensity in equal measure, giving abstract electronic experimentation a visceral physical force. On November 13, Pantheon presents solo live sets by these two longtime collaborators. In the intimate setting of Rugs*, hear the echoes of industrial music’s history—and the sound of its continuing evolution. Their First Solo Performances in China · Only Two Mainland Dates November 13 | Rugs, Beijing*
