Starting as a tentative side project away from playing big noisy riffs as Oxygen Thief, this diversion from his usual writing habits made Dolan’s poetic lyrics increasingly precise and personal, with his intimate guitar playing embellished by a string section and piano. Non Canon is for fans of Idlewild/Roddy Woomble, Tim Kasher, Bright Eyes, and that bit at Manic Street Preachers gigs where James Dean Bradfield plays some acoustic songs on his own.
