— A night of music and bodies, capturing the 2020s — On Saturday, October 3, 2026, CUT OFF 20s will take place at WWWβ in Shibuya, Tokyo. CUT OFF 20s is a crossover event centered around the idea of preserving the cities and emotions of the 2020s not as records, but as sensations. “CUT OFF” here means not “separation,” but “capturing a moment.” We forget while we dance, and remember while we dance. As the 2020s reach their midpoint, the future may be uncertain, but through sound and movement, we continue to seek ways to leave something behind. This night will be one such cross-section—a moment that captures and inscribes the 2020s. For its second edition, CUT OFF 20s brings together six artists with roots in dance music and the underground scene. YAMA, who spent years as a buyer at Osaka’s Newtone Records before becoming a longstanding presence in underground scenes both in Japan and abroad; Sht, who builds organic, psychedelic grooves centered around house music; MK woop, who moves fluidly between rap and electronic music, drawing from hip-hop as his starting point; RYUSEI, who creates his own distinctive grooves through an intuitive dialogue with the dance floor, rooted in house music; Ryogo, based at West Harlem in Kyoto and the organizer of the broad-ranging techno party “Interzone”; and MIKASA, who curates CUT OFF 20s and continues to explore his own form of expression through DJing and creative direction.
