FāQ returns to Aby’ss Shanghai, bringing Berlin-based producer and DJ AEXHY to China for another collision between Shanghai’s underground and the new generation of European rave culture. Built from within Shanghai’s independent electronic music community, FāQ has developed its identity through a continuing series at Aby’ss, connecting international guests with local residents and pushing across techno, trance, hardcore and the increasingly genreless edges of contemporary rave. Following previous editions with artists including Restricted, Caroline Roxy, KIRK and Ali James, the project returns to its home ground for its next chapter. At the center of the night is AEXHY — Alexander Gassner, a German DJ and producer currently based in Berlin whose music deliberately refuses to remain inside a single genre. Founder of SYNDIKAET and connected to projects and communities including SPFINFINI, ASYLUM, DEESTRICTED, ENIGMA and PUBLIC ENERGY, AEXHY has developed a highly personal approach to electronic music: fast, emotional and unpredictable, moving through techno, trance, hardcore, euphoric rave and unexpected mutations in between. Rather than treating intensity as an end in itself, AEXHY builds sets around contrast and storytelling. Hard percussion can dissolve into melody; acceleration can turn euphoric; abrasive club music can suddenly become strangely sentimental. It is this combination of speed, fantasy and emotional openness that has carried his sound through Berlin and an expanding network of underground clubs and communities across Europe. For his Shanghai appearance, AEXHY meets the FāQ resident community, placing the international guest inside the local ecosystem that has defined the project from the beginning. The night also continues the wider exchange at the heart of Aby’ss — an independent underground club in Shanghai connecting Chinese artists, resident-led projects and international electronic music communities.
