Handclap and Pumping Velvet team are teaming up once more: this time heading east, and to pastures new, in the company of some esteemed guests. Excelsior Ruth is a mainstay of London’s DIY party scene: a composer and DJ whose versatile sound we have admired for many years. At her Opera Sunday party, you’ll find Ruth exploring the deepest extents of house music and its adjacent worlds: worlds that we’ll be diving into as she warms up our room ever so nicely. Taking us through the peak of the night, SPRKLBB is an all-vinyl DJ with an improvisational sound that’s equal parts deep, playful, and ecstatic. A mentee of NYC house royalty The Carry Nation, his Spaghetti Strap party champions boundary-pushing music at the forefront of New York’s queer scene. Rounding off the night, Cleyra’s sub-heavy experimental techno has found home on Batu’s Timedance imprint, but they are equally versed in emotionally-charged house music. Having long been one of Bristol’s best kept secrets, we are lucky to now count them as one of our own here in London, and to have them guiding us through the small hours.
