Live music & open mic night raising awareness & money for care experienced young people. Young people that have spent some of or all their life in care are left on their own with no safeguarding measures as soon as they turn 18 - and many die at that age. Care leavers are faced with a lack of support, leading to high rates of homelessness, inprisonment and suicide. Akora was a care-experienced singer, artist, and poet who sadly took her life. So this Speak Up event is dedicated to her and all the care experienced young people who have lost their lives to a broken system, and to those who need support but are not being heard. Come to The Orange Room for an open-mic night with live music spanning rap, hip-hop, R&B and garage, raising money for a good cause. All ticket proceeds will go towards care-leaver charities.
