// Few people in Lithuanian electronic music have achieved as much as Vidis (Vidmantas Čepkauskas), and fewer have done it from behind the scenes for so long :: He has spent more than two decades releasing music, booking artists, curating club and festival programmes, shaping communities and building Lithuania’s electronic music scene :: Since 2017 he has worked as V, with releases on Cin Cin, Nautilus Rising and Correspondant ^^ // Yet even for him, the business still has a few firsts left, and this one is big ::: On December 18th, Vidis unveils his first full-length solo album ––––– “12:55 (Ceci n’est pas une V)” ^^ // Just out on Le Temps Perdu, the 10-track record is an elegant collision of Italo, krautrock, post-punk, minimal synth and industrial pop ::: Some cuts are built for the floor, while others let the rhythm step back and leave the atmosphere in charge ^^ // The album title also works as a key to the whole project :: it recalls René Magritte’s “Ceci n’est pas une pipe” and ties in with the period Vidmantas spent living in Brussels, raising the problem of representation :: a name, a sign or a persona is not the same thing as the person and their work ::: V is not a final identity but another construction of one, a way of briefly defining something that keeps changing ^^ // The night is built around the people who shaped the record :: a live performance by Noyus, whose voice runs through “You Know”; Philipp Lauer, a longtime creative partner who co-produced some of the tracks; and Curses, whose “Is This What You Want?” gives the record its darkest, most theatrical turn ^^ // // // // // // // // // // // // // // // ^ N19 ^ tickets also at the door ^ have your ID on you ^ face control / the club reserves the right to refuse entry ^ take care && have fun // // // // // // // // // // // // // // //
