We’re ecstatic to invite Chicago’s Justin Aulis Long for our October outing - as an OG SmartBar stalwart and sonic sorcerer his presence promises an evening of rave-based ritual and psychedelic portal exploration. Known for opening communal thresholds to other realms during dance gatherings, Long is a musical poet and alchemist well-versed in generating and controlling vibrant collective energy fields using sacred objects (records) and equipment (turntables and mixers) to unite bodies and spirits into harmony. His sets have a noted tendency of unraveling the bounds of time and space and disintegrating status quo structures simply though the power of sigils and ritualistically charged musical selections - we can’t wait to be transformed together with you. Justin continues his packed run of parties and festival sets this year on top of an unfathomably rich career of performances and curation. His latest platform, the SmartBar party series “Flowers of Romance”, fuses experimental acid, heavy industrial techno, and custom art installations for an effect best described as cross-pollinated magic. On warm up duties we are so stoked for an extended opening set from rising DJ icon Moorhaus and JAMS leader AZZA. Moorhaus is no stranger to the sonic wormhole and his patient approach to selection, wide ranging tastes, and ability to connect forgotten and unexplored corners of dance music make him an omnipresent force behind the decks all over the Midwest and beyond. Coupled B2B with AZZA’s omnivorous crate digging and metaphysical appreciation of the rhythmic, hypnotic, spiritual powers of the dancefloor, this is sure to be a transfiguring party of rave-y rapture!
