SILKWORM in Toronto! First show in T.O. in 26 years!! Special guests TBA. Formed in Missoula, Montana in 1987, Silkworm is a storied and influential American indie rock band revered by those in the know. Founded by guitarist/vocalists Joel R.L. Phelps and Andrew Cohen, bassist/vocalist Tim Midyett, and later joined by drummer Michael Dahlquist, the band relocated to Seattle and eventually Chicago, releasing nine acclaimed albums on labels including Matador and Touch and Go Records. Following Phelps' departure in 1994, Silkworm continued as a trio, touring relentlessly and releasing landmark albums including Firewater, Developer, and Italian Platinum. Their career came to a tragic end in 2005 when Dahlquist was killed in a car crash, prompting the band to disband immediately. In July 2024, the surviving members reunited to honour their late friend and collaborator Steve Albini, joined by drummer Jeff Panall (Songs: Ohia, Mint Mile). Playing together as a quartet for the first time in 30 years proved both emotional and exhilarating, inspiring a long-awaited return to the stage. The band's enduring legacy is celebrated in the documentary Couldn't You Wait: The Story of Silkworm and the forthcoming book Lay It Down in Full View.
