Early birds now on sale Student tickets with ID MISTRESS DE FUNK, THE QUEEN OF SANKEYS, RETURNS TO MANCHESTER Some DJs played Manchester. Others became part of its clubbing history. Mistress De Funk belongs firmly in the second camp. From early residencies at Emporia and Venus to becoming the first female resident at Sankeys, Mistress De Funk was one of the defining Manchester DJs of the late 00s - earning the nickname “Queen of Sankeys” and becoming a resident at its legendary Tribal Sessions parties. At Sankeys she shared the booth and the bill with a who's who of house and techno: Laurent Garnier, Adam Beyer, Josh Wink, Trentemøller, Loco Dice, Joris Voorn, James Zabiela, Nic Fanciulli, Stephan Bodzin, Layo & Bushwacka! and many more. Her reputation soon travelled beyond Manchester. A residency on BBC Radio 1's In New DJs We Trust took the Mistress De Funk sound nationwide, followed by international bookings and appearances at clubs including Fabric, The Cross, The Egg, Le Terrazza Barcelona, Pacha Ibiza, The Zoo Project, Back to Basics, Mint Club, Ministry of Sound and Privilege to name a few She wasn't only behind the decks either. Mistress De Funk programmed her own Tribal Sessions nights and launched Peep Show Records, with her productions and remixes picking up support from some of underground electronic music's most respected names. Then came time away from the circuit. So this one feels special. On Saturday 10 October, Mistress De Funk returns to a Manchester dancefloor for a rare appearance at Off The Square. For those who remember those nights at Sankeys, it's a chance to reconnect with one of the DJs who helped soundtrack an era. For everyone else, it's a chance to find out why Manchester called her the Queen of Sankeys. Mistress De Funk returns. Manchester. Off The Square. 10 October.
