
Originally formed in Solihull in the mid-‘70s, Swell Maps helped lay the foundations for alternative rock long before the term existed. Blending the urgency of punk with experimental noise, psychedelia and DIY ambition, the band released a string of groundbreaking records before splitting in 1980, leaving a lasting influence on artists including Sonic Youth, Nirvana, Pavement, Stereolab and The Pastels. Now, original member Jowe Head returns with a new line-up carrying that restless spirit forward. Following the release of the acclaimed comeback album C21 in 2026, Swell Maps once again bring their fearless, unpredictable sound to the stage
