After another unbelievable year of LPB Brickyard Open Air events, we're back in the club for winter. To prove a point... Somewhere along the way, groove became a genre and proper became a qualification. Ask someone what they play, and they’ll tell you “proper techno and groove,” as though either explains anything. Meanwhile, progressive house has been repackaged, renamed, and rediscovered by successive generations of dancefloors. The latest mutation draws from the psychedelic fringes of ’90s progressive house, trance, acid, breakbeat, techno, and electro. Rubbery basslines coil around tribal percussion, acid sequences dissolve into spacious synth textures, and trance-like propulsion gives way to unpredictable rhythmic detours. Playful yet hypnotic, futuristic yet unmistakably rooted in the past. Neither a new genre nor a nostalgic revival, but an evolving style built on recombination rather than reinvention. Call it old, call it new, call it played out. But the 2020s still have no defining sound. We propose PSY HOUSE.
