As autumn arrives in Hamburg, Torture the Artist pres. eDEMi returns to Anbau at Haus73 on October 3rd, bringing together familiar faces from the city with one of the UK underground’s most exciting selectors and producers: Swin. Having released on Magic Carpet and recently launched his own Canny Records, Swin has developed a sound built around groove, character, and a playful disregard for overly rigid genre boundaries. House sits at the centre, but bass-heavy excursions, broken rhythms, oddball details, and distinctly UK sensibilities are never far away. His productions carry the same curiosity as his sets: club music with personality, made to move bodies without taking itself too seriously. The day begins with another edition of absolutely on music, our intimate stream session, with Swin joined by G-L’amour, Henry —head of Hamburg’s Die Börse—and TTA founder and eDEMi host Holger Breuer. Records are passed around, people drop by, conversations happen between sets, and the music slowly sets the tone for what follows. And this time, there is nowhere else to go. As afternoon turns into evening and evening into night, Anbau simply changes with it. The lights get lower, the volume goes up, and Swin, G-L’amour and Holger Breuer take over for the club session. With Hamburg providing most of the family and Swin bringing his own perspective across from the UK, expect House, Minimal, Breaks, UKG and all those difficult-to-name spaces somewhere in between. That transition captures what we increasingly want eDEMi to feel like: less an anonymous club night and more a place to spend some time together. Warm light, plants, good records, familiar faces and people you haven’t met yet. Come early for the stream, have a drink, discover some music, stay for one set—or suddenly realize it’s much later than you thought. No grand concept. Just carefully selected music, a room full of good people, and hopefully that rare feeling that for a few hours everything is exactly where it should be.
