William Basinski is a classically trained musician and composer who has been working in experimental media for over 40 years in NYC and Los Angeles. Employing obsolete technology and analogue tape loops, his haunting and melancholy soundscapes explore the temporal nature of life and resound with the reverberations of memory and the mystery of time. He presents the live performance of his first album in six years, *Passing the Cup of Sorrows*, a haunting solo piano composition paired with subtle electronics. Desert-born producer Cholla programs soft rhythms and dubbed out pads anchored around the atmospheric and IDM phantasms that are within the ambient genre. Mentored through various DIY electronic scenes in her late teens and ongoing, she morphs together a pallet of hypnotic compositions, creating sand like textures that gently pulsate alive. DURATIONS Festival is a week-long, multi-disciplinary exploration of sound and connection. Now in its fifth iteration, the festival’s programming is its most robust yet, with seven days of music, talks, and audiovisual work taking place between Public Records, Pioneer Works, Roulette, and Whitney Museum of American Art. Festival Passes are availabe via Dice. \- Public Records aims to provide a safer space.
