VAEFF presents an evening of live jazz led by Benno Marmur and featuring his All-Star Quintet. Doors open at 7:30PM, music begins at 8:00PM, followed by a wine & cheese reception at 9:15PM. This live jazz concert features an all-star ensemble of acclaimed New York musicians and highlights selections from Benno Marmur’s forthcoming Cellar Live record. Marmur brings together a dynamic band featuring Grammy award winning drummer Ulysses Owens Jr., vocalist April Varner, saxophonist Sam Dillon and bassist Ahmed McLemore for an evening of original music and modern jazz repertoire. Marmur has established himself as a versatile and compelling voice on the New York jazz scene, performing at venues including Dizzy’s Club, Smalls, The Iridium, Minton’s Playhouse, Nublu, Ornithology, and Jazz on Main, and collaborating with artists such as Vincent Herring, Grant Stewart, Mark Whitfield, Jimmy Madison, Warren Chiasson, Grant Green Jr., Erena Terakubo, Chris Potter and Bill Charlap with the WPUNJ Big Band. This performance highlights his evolving work as a composer and bandleader, featuring a first-rate ensemble for a dynamic and truly special evening of jazz.
