Writing and performing in both Welsh and English, Georgia Ruth has built a reputation for crafting emotionally rich, atmospheric work that draws on landscape, memory, and identity. This event will launch her fifth album, Uncanny Valley, which blends alt-country ballads with chamber pop to bring a new dimension to her music. The album draws inspiration from the films and television shows of the early 00s (American Beauty, Mulholland Drive, Ally McBeal) and Georgia's late arrival, ‘twenty years too late’, to The Sopranos, creating an album with an undoubtedly cinematic feel. Supporting Georgia Ruth will be Welsh composer and pianist Gwenno Morgan. Drawing inspiration from the sea, mountains and folk melodies of North Wales, Gwenno creates cinematic, neo-classical music centred around memorable melodies and sweeping orchestral soundscapes. Her forthcoming second album, gwreiddiau, is a celebration of Welsh landscapes, heritage and the feeling of belonging. The Elgar Room is the Royal Albert Hall’s versatile contemporary performance space. It's steeped in history and a great way to enjoy live entertainment at the Hall beyond the main stage.
