What started an end of twenties birthday celebration and album launch party has morphed and evolved into a day into night summer closing at one of South Londons most beloved local venues. Hosted by Blossom Hill and Pez they will be inviting down two of Londons finest selectors Heléna Star and Giulia Tess to an intimate club event which will take place on Saturday 5th September. Heléna Star’s rise has been quietly assured. Across appearances at Glastonbury, Boiler Room and BBC Radio 1, she’s developed a distinctive approach to house music built around restraint, soul and storytelling rather than easy peaks. Her recent set at Horst Arts & Music Festival felt like a particularly clear expression of that philosophy, patient, deeply musical and comfortable letting a room unfold at its own pace. Giulia Tess has built a formidable stance as a producer she's released records on Ross From Friends, LG105 and Classico. As a DJ and radio host on NTS, she's toured internationally supported Peggy Gou, Bicep and Kelly Lee Owens and done b2b slots with TEED, Nathan Fake. Her approach has always been to marry the emotional pull of leftfield electronica with the percussive and low end sensibilities of UK Bass. Expect carefully selected soulful house, uplifting electronica and left-of-centre dance music as the pub gradually gives way to the dance floor. Part birthday, part album celebration, part neighbourhood gathering. More than anything, it's a good excuse to spend 7 hours with great people soundtracked by great records.
