OTHER HOURS brings together filmmakers, artists, and DJs from Tokyo and Southeast Asia for a night where cinema meets underground dance music. Taking place during the Tokyo International Film Festival, the event celebrates the screenings of BECOMING HUMAN by Cambodian filmmaker Polen Ly and SMALL HOURS OF THE NIGHT by Singaporean filmmaker Daniel Hui. Making its Tokyo debut, Singapore's queer rave collective INTERVENTION PARTY joins Tokyo's techno, house, and minimal scene with an eclectic mix of Southeast Asian club rhythms, jungle, drum & bass, and psytrance. Weaving indigenous choral samples into global club sounds, Intervention offers a reclamation of the dance floor—a space to reindigenize dance music and celebrate queer joy. Throughout the night, special pop-ups and moving-image works created in collaboration with Southeast Asian filmmakers will transform the venue into a space where cinema, music, art, and nightlife intersect. ____________________ S.O.B.A.主催、Anti-Archive、13 Little Picturesとのコラボレーションにより開催。 OTHER HOURSは、東京と東南アジアの映画監督、アーティスト、DJたちが集い、映画とアンダーグラウンド・ダンスミュージックが交差する一夜。 東京国際映画祭の開催期間中に行われる本イベントは、カンボジアの映画監督Polen Lyによる『BECOMING HUMAN』、シンガポールの映画監督Daniel Huiによる『SMALL HOURS OF THE NIGHT』の上映を記念して開催される。 今回、シンガポール発のクィア・レイヴ・コレクティブ「INTERVENTION PARTY」が東京初登場。東京のテクノ、ハウス、ミニマル・シーンと、東南アジアのクラブミュージック、ジャングル、ドラムンベース、サイケトランスが交差する。先住民族の合唱をサンプリングしたサウンドと世界各地のクラブミュージックを織り交ぜ、ダンスフロアを取り戻し、そこに土着の文化や音楽を再び根付かせる試みを通して、クィアの歓びを祝福する。 当日は、東南アジアの映画監督たちとのコラボレーションによる映像作品の上映や、スペシャル・ポップアップも展開。映画、音楽、アート、ナイトライフの境界を横断する空間を生み出す。
