MICELI returns next year, continuing to explore the pair of ideas that shaped our first edition: unselfing music and self-managed spaces. We do not see these as fixed concepts, but instead as questions evolve with each artist, space and encounter that is a part of MICELI. Attention is at the core of both these ideas. It's how we can move beyond the individual self and get closer to reality: sound and silence, repetition and duration, intensity and release. Our form is listening is one that requires presence instead of mere consumption. We also pay attention to the spaces where listening takes places. Independent and self-managed spaces and venues are shaped by the people who run them, who care for the music instead of simply programming it. In 2027, MICELI will continue to explore what happens when we really pay attention to music.
