SEPTEMBER 26 | Following his years as Lovefest's former main programmer, Nikola Vemić introduces a 12-hour House format at Karmakoma. Joe Clausell, Brooklyn-born DJ and producer of Puerto Rican and French descent, is the first guest in the series, accompanied by veterans Vlada Janjić, Marko Milosavljević, and Vemić himself. From his beginnings at Dance Tracks record store, where he took over to lead, to launching the world house labels Spiritual Life Music and Ibadan Records, organic African, Brazilian, Latin, and Middle Eastern Rhythms crossing over into Disco, Jazz, House, and Electronic music records were the essence of Joe's collection. This recipe took him around the world. While in parallel handling all aspects of running a business, all the way to graphic design, Joe somehow managed to answer many collaboration calls and remixed music by Femi Kuti, Herbie Hancock, Beth Orton, Cesaria Evora, Nina Simone, Stewart Matthewman (Sade), Cassandra Wilson, and Diana Ross, to name a few. Much like the action we're doing here, in 1996, Joe Claussell joined Francois K and Danny Krivit to play for the legendary “Body & Soul” Sunday afternoon dance party.
