GRAMMY-nominated pianist **Daniel Schlosberg** and composer-pianist **Shi-An Costello** unite to perform new and contemporary works on both solo piano and piano four hands, illuminating the influences of Johann Sebastian Bach and earlier musics on the work of contemporary composers and musicians. This concert features Hungarian composer **György Kurtág**'s one-of-a-kind four-hand piano transcriptions of works by **Guillaume de Machaut**, **Orlando di Lasso**, **Girolamo Frescobaldi** and **J.S. Bach**, often adding his own sensibilities of playfulness, serenity and wonder into his translations of these old works he so admired. In addition to four-hand works, Daniel Schlosberg will perform solo works "Prelude" from Suite III by **Jean Henri d'Anglebert**, **David Clay Mettens**'s Through a Silvered Morning (2023), "Black Hole" from **Amy Wurtz**'s Cyclature: 26 Cycles for Piano (2021), and Schlosberg's own piano transcription of Recuerdos de la Alhambra by **Francisco Tárrega**; Shi-An Costello will perform selections of his own compositions The Orient (2023), Reappearance (2022), his own piano arrangements of J.S. Bach's Cello Suites, and **Arvo Pärt**'s 1976 work, Für Alina. Schlosberg and Costello both will give the world premiere of Costello's Prelude, Chorale et Prelude for piano four hands, written for Schlosberg and the occasion.
