Since 2008, East Forest (Krishna-Trevor Oswalt) has used music to guide listeners on journeys of deep introspection. The electro-acoustic project, mostly a solo effort, moves between ambient, neoclassical, electronic and avant-pop, blending organic and electronic elements into cinematic compositions. His latest project is the documentary “Music for Mushrooms,” a look at the power of psychedelics, music and community in times of global crisis. It features Ram Dass, Duncan Trussell and Dr. Robin Carhart-Harris, plus an original score by East Forest. His latest release, “Lovingly: A Soundtrack For The Psychedelic Practitioner, Vol. III,” runs over six hours. It was recorded and improvised live inside psilocybin ceremonies between 2020 and 2024 and guides inner journeys from start to finish. Live, he plays a mostly instrumental repertoire at concert halls and major festivals in Europe, Australia and Asia. His catalog has over 30 albums, including a 2019 collaboration with Ram Dass and work with Jon Hopkins, Laraaji, Nick Mulvey and Peter Broderick. He also offers guided meditations, retreats, talks and the podcast “Ten Laws w/East Forest.” He is a faculty member at the Esalen Institute and has worked with Google, Johns Hopkins, UCSF, Stanford d.school, SXSW, Yale and TED.
