OPEN/START: 18:00 ENT: ¥2500 +1drink Order 大塚のディープスポットなDJバー「地底」で不定期に開催されているDJ&Live Party”Medzi Medzi”。 今年3回目となる今回は、群馬・高崎からafrocoya ft.Makisamaがライヴ・アクトとして出演する。 バラフォン、アップライトベース、ドラム、そしてフルートという変則的な編成で、ギニアの伝統音楽を軸に、ロック、ジャズ、プログレを織り交ぜながら、奇天烈なサイケデリアを時にエモーショナルに、時に無機質に作り上げていく唯一無二のバンドであるafrocoyaとMakisama。6月に待望のEPをリリースしたばかりの彼ら彼女らだが、都内でのライブはなかなか観れないので見逃しは厳禁だ。 DJには、自由ヶ丘で古本とレコードを取り扱うお店「桃源堂 - Records & Books」を開業したばかりのkömuが、ジャズスタンダードからフュージョン、アフリカン・トラディショナルまでをまるで”ボタンを掛け違えたかのような”奇妙なストーリーで繋いでいき、神田にてジャズ・バー「Bar SLIGHT」を経営するKotaは、セオリーを自ら書き替えるが如く、ハウス、テクノナイズドされたジャズやジャズ・ファンク、フュージョンを快楽的にセレクトしていく。 全てが混ざり合い、心地良い頭のシビれがずっと続くような、そんな多幸感に溢れた一晩になることは間違いないだろう。 ------------------- Medzi Medzi” is a DJ & live party held irregularly at “Chitei,” a hidden gem of a DJ bar in Otsuka. For this year’s third installment, afrocoya ft. Makisama from Takasaki, Gunma, will perform as the live act. With an unconventional lineup of balafon, upright bass, drums, and flute, afrocoya and Makisama are a one-of-a-kind band that weaves rock, jazz, and progressive rock into a foundation of traditional Guinean music to create a bizarre psychedelic sound—sometimes emotional, sometimes cold. They released their long-awaited EP in June, but since their live shows in Tokyo are a rare treat, you absolutely can’t miss this. On the DJ set, kömu—who recently opened “Togen-do – Records & Books,” a shop specializing in used books and records in Jiyugaoka—will weave together everything from jazz standards to fusion and traditional African music into a bizarre narrative that feels as though “the buttons were buttoned up all wrong.” Meanwhile, Kota, who runs the jazz bar “Bar SLIGHT” in Kanda, will select house, techno-infused jazz, jazz-funk, and fusion with a sense of pure pleasure, as if he were rewriting the rules himself. With everything blending, there’s no doubt this will be a night overflowing with euphoria—one that leaves you with a pleasant, lingering buzz that just won’t go away.
