RIEKO partners with Metamorphika for a multidisciplinary ceremony for the release of her experimental pop meets avant-classical sophomore EP, Zakuro – Japanese for “pomegranate,” a symbol for a Buddhist demon-turned-deity who transforms to protect the mothers and progeny of the earth. RIEKO will perform Zakuro live, alongside DJ sets by her close collaborator and EP co-producer, electronic artist Yraki. The evening will feature a two-story exhibition of all of the visual artists who have contributed to her mythological, audio-visual world building, including photography by Lucy Feng in collaboration with AGF Hydra, art films serving as music videos by Jesse May Fisher and Detroit Law. Zakuro Rising is a fully immersive celebration of RIEKO’s four-track EP, enticing participants through sound, scent, taste, embodiment, and ritual.
