“Technoir” Launched in 2025 as a monthly techno night at Brand in Shibuya, Technoir stands firm against short-lived trends and commercialism. The event is guided by a belief in timeless DJing, rooted in each artist's distinct sonic signature. Aside from founder and organizer Ryu Imayama, the lineup changes every edition—serving as an ongoing experiment to capture an unrepeatable, one-of-a-kind atmosphere each night. The party takes its name from the iconic fictional club featured in the movie The Terminator. In 2004, he played alongside Paul Mac (a featured artist at Takkyu Ishino’s WIRE03) at Club CORE in Roppongi, establishing himself across Tokyo's club scene through the early 2010s. Following a temporary hiatus, Ryu returned in 2025 to launch his monthly party Technoir at Brand in Shibuya. By curating a select lineup of top-tier local talent and seasoned DJs, he delivers a raw, edgy, and fiercely individualistic brand of techno.
